Lucknow Uttar Pradesh Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpai held the Samajwadi Party government responsible for the current imbroglio over regularisation of Siksha Mitras, and alleged that the present regime failed to "show seriousness in implementing the promises made in its election manifesto".
"SP did not show seriousness in implementing the promise made in its election manifesto," he said, adding that the government did not even pursue the case strongly in the high court.
"The state government is responsible for the current situation but if it prepares a proper proposal then BJP and the Centre are with it," Bajpai said.
The UP BJP chief said the recruitment of Siksha Mitras started during the party's regime with Kalyan Singh as the Chief Minister, but there was no resentment or problem due to the norms set by the government at that time.

Citing the example of 23 lakh applications for 368 posts in the Secretariat, the UP BJP chief said the situation was serious as a large number of posts were vacant in different departments.

While the SP government failed to give unemployment allowance, it also failed to provide employment opportunities, he alleged, adding, "It is anti-unemployed government."
Bajpai alleged that UPPSC Chairman Anil Yadav was involved in corruption and demanded his removal. He also sought cancellation of all recruitments done during his tenure and setting up of an inquiry.
He said that BJP would definitely launch agitation over these issues.
